Following unconfirmed reports al-Qaeda used chemical weapons, the top U.S. commander in Europe told the Associated Press NATO is preparing to intervene in Syria. Adm. James G. Stavridis told the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday the U.S. will play a direct role in taking out Bashar Assad’s government if called upon to do so. “We are prepared if called upon to be engaged,” he said.
In addition to a direct military role, Stavridis said NATO is looking at ways to turn the conflict around in favor of the CIA’s mercenary army consisting largely of al-Qaeda terrorists. Minus the discplined fighting ability of the Islamic
terrorists, the FSA would have capitulated to the well-armed professional Syrian army months ago.
NATO recommendations include imposing a no-fly zone over Syria, providing “lethal support” for the FSA and al-Qaeda, and imposing an arms embargo on the country.
Asked by Democrat Senator and Armed Services Chairman Karl Levin if NATO was considering taking out Syria’s air defenses, Stavridis said yes. The Admiral told Republican committee member John McCain that Patriot missile batteries
located in Turkey could be used to shoot down Syrian aircraft and curtain flights near the border. “And we’re far from that,” Stavridis said.
Could this be the opening door that will lead the U.S. into a third word war? Evidence is more than pressing that between heated tensions in the Middle East and N. Korea as well as other uprisings that there is more tensions globally than anyone is prepared to announce in any of the major media networks. We know that things are going to get more than interesting in the next several days to a couple of short weeks.
